The document of Helvetica explained how type is talking to us all the time and how it’s “just out there” in the media world. Helveitca is the most commonly used type, it’s a timeless. It’s a clear, modern type that it’s very good in ads. There was a needs for rational typefaces to present visions of the present to the public. Designers use Helvetica is very neutral. Type should be clear, readable and straightforward. Modern ads are more direct and demanding as opposed to ads of the past, which were more ridiculous and unclear.
Helvetica has become a default type, because of how often it in used. Some people believe that Helvetica has become too boring. The letters were designed to look alike and most designers believe that it needs to change. Designers want typed face to have rhythm and contrast in their work, which Helvetica doesn’t have. Designers want to break things up and to get away from the cleanliness and smoothness of Helvetica.
