The message that my group will be designing will be the message of being free, but not completely free. In the image, there is a vortex spiraling as the background, with a tornado like shape coming out of the vortex made out of the word freedom repeatedly out of different languages. Trying to escape the tornado like shape is a dove, flying away, wanting freedom from the tornado.
The flow of the piece goes from the center of the vortex and flows out with the tornado and dove then goes back to the center. The structural form of the piece is a ring like from, continuously going around and around. The tornado gives the appearance of coming out of the vortex/black hole area of the spatial background. The tornado has a spiral movement coming out of the vortex that reaches for the dove. The typography of the foreground flows similar to how a tornado blows in nature. The center of the vortex is the start of the golden ratio of the poster. The ratio of the poster continues to go of the image in a spiral motion. The size of the spiral if a metaphor for the progress of time: as the size of the spiral increases, the more time has pasted in the movement.
The message of the poster is the metaphor of freedom in world governments. In most of the first world countries, the citizens are free, but they’re not completely free. The dove represents the people of the countries trying to escape this fake meaning of “freedom” proposed by their governments. The dove in a natural state is a symbol of peace and freedom. The tornado represents the struggle the government goes through to control the people with a false sense of freedom. The tornado is pulling in the people into an even darker obstruction of what real freedom is into the vortex, never to know what real freedom is.
