Creation Story Comic

The creation story I choose to design into a comic was The Origin of Japan and Her People from the list stories given. The part of the story I will make into a five panel comic is the fourth paragraph; the sence of Izanagi and Izanami meeting and giving birth the the islands of Japan along with other deities of the elements. Izanagi and Izanami will have human designs while the deities with be given humaniod forms with a elemental characteristic of what type of god they are.

Today’s religion in Japan is a combination of Shintoism and Buddhism. Religion does not play a big role on the average, every day life of the citizen of Japan, but they preform customs and ritual traditions during events such as birthdays, weddings, New Years, and other religious holidays. During festivals, ormatsuri, many Japanese will visit Shinto shrines and preform rituals based on the god of that shrine. A Buddhist event in Japan’s religious culture is the Bon Festival when the souls of the ancestors of families visit. This festivals includes visiting Buddhist temples and decorating alters of the deceased. Pior to this festival, family members would go to the grave sites of the ancestors and clean the graves in preperation of returing souls.
